Dual Enrollment Registration Updates – Spring 2022

Please access the district website which contains the Spring Online Registration Worksheet for important upcoming dates and deadlines for Spring Registration.

  • Please share the dates and deadlines as well as the worksheet with all of your eligible students as well as their parents. If you are able to make a phone call home you can use this script as a guide for what to include in your phone call.
  • Please note that students who are taking an online course for the first time must complete the online readiness course through Canvas. Completion of the PHSC online readiness course is required prior to registering in any online dual enrollment courses.  We highly encourage all students to access and complete the online readiness course now.
  • Completion of the Student Orientation online is also REQUIRED for all DE students. Students who have not completed this course will not be able to register for Spring courses. Visit https://admissions.phsc.edu/start/high-school/dual-enroll/faq to access directions on how to complete the orientation.

Course Adoption 21-22 School Year

The course adoption process for the 21-22 school year will take place through the Secondary Design Team meetings. The meeting dates that will include this process are November 15th (virtual) , December 1st  and February 9th .  To have a course reviewed at the November 15th   meeting please complete this form by October 22nd  . Please reference the course catalog prior to submitting a course adoption request to ensure this course would be needed in the content area. For courses outside of these subject areas (CTE, ESE, AICE, IB, etc.) please reference the course catalog in myStudent to see what is currently adopted. The course is only adopted for use in brick and mortar schools if there is a Z suffix on the end of the course code number and it is listed as active in the system.  If you are unsure of how to access the course catalog reference these directions.  Please contact Tonia Shook with any questions you may have.

PMP Reporting Monthly Progress

Each month, we will report progress to parents to let them know how their child is responding to Tier 3 interventions.  As teachers are finalizing Quarter 1 grades on Monday, October 18th, they will also want to make an indication as to whether each student is making (adequate, limited, yes, or no) progress in the SSS, if they haven’t already done so. This will be populated on the monthly progress letters that will go home on October 26th with report cards.

Here is a chart which indicates when the progress letters will be generated in the letter queue in myStudent and when they should be sent home (electronically or hard copy). You can find the directions for accessing an error report prior to printing or sending the letters electronically and how to print the letters on pages 4-5 of Academic Monitoring in myStudent.docx.  The administrator and office staff with DEO or School Update profiles will have access, one week prior to distribution of report cards and progress reports, to the Letter Queue area of myStudent located in the Student Menu.  This is the same process as ESD and ESY.

Date letters will be generated in letter queue Date schools send home progress letters
No letters generated 9/10 Progress Reports  (no progress letter)
10/19 10/26 Q1 Report Cards + progress letter
11/5 11/12 Progress Reports + progress letter

PMP Progress Monitoring

As part of the development of the intervention plan, you selected a progress monitoring tool, so you can monitor student response to intervention.  You will see the option of inputting data into a graph right in myStudent SSS.  If you are monitoring through Lexia,  you would not be required to enter data in SSS, since this data would be collected through myLexia. You would only enter data, if the data is not being collected in another way (i.e., myEWS student data sheet, myLexia, or etc.).

Please contact Courtney Lough, Jan Anderton, or Larry Porter if you have any questions.

Grade Pass Back Information

Grade Pass Back is a valuable, time saving tool for syncing your myLearning (Canvas) gradebook with your myStudent gradebook. This eliminates the work of having to enter information into two different systems. It requires some simple, careful setup initially. Here are several things that may cause errors when setting up Grade Pass Back:

  • Gradebooks cannot be combined in myStudent
  • Assignment categories must be identical in both myStudent and myLearning (including capitalization and spacing)
  • Assignments must be in a category in myLearning that matches one in myStudent
  • Assignments must have due dates in the current term. For Q1 that is between 8/10-10/15. Of note is that you may decide to give students until teacher planning day to turn in work. The due date in myLearning must still be no later than 10/15 because that is the end of the term in the system. Anything with due dates of 10/16, 17, or 18 will be not be recognized since Q2 does not begin until 10/19.

The following video is a walkthrough of setting up the Pass Back and how to sync your grades.

  • A link to the myLearning course(s) you are having issues with
  • A brief description of your problem or error message, and the name/student number of any students you may be experiencing specific issues with
  • Any other pertinent information
