OLL High School Communication

PMP Support Documents and Office Hours

Optional Parent Letter

We have received several requests from schools to provide a letter that could be sent home with individual students, as needed, to communicate changes in our district’s MTSS/PMP process.  This letter explains the role of MTSS and Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels of support and clarifies that PMPs are to monitor Tier 3 moving forward.  This letter is not intended to be sent home to all families, but those that may need more detailed information, especially for those that have been historically designated as needing a PMP. Here is a link to the Universal MTSS_PMP Letter. Here is the Spanish version  Universal MTSS_PMP Letter Spanish

Step by Step User Guide for Teachers

Please click here to access the High School step by step user guide that will walk your teachers through the process of giving a student a PMP and developing a progress monitoring plan. Thank you Dan Wolfe for developing this and sharing it with OLL.

Professional Collaboration Community (PCCs) for Advanced Coursework Teachers

Again, this year we will be continuing our Professional Collaboration Communities (PCCs) for AP, AICE, DE, and IB teachers. The guiding principles behind the creation of these PCCs, is to provide advanced coursework teachers the opportunity to collaborate and share best practices. We have amazing teachers in this district and look forward to each of you having the occasion to share your expertise with colleagues. PCCs will be subject specific (i.e. US History, Chemistry, Statistics, etc.)

If you are interested in being a district Advanced Coursework PCC facilitator, please complete the attached application by Friday, October 1st. Compensation is available if you are selected to facilitate a session. More details on time, structure, and locations will be shared once facilitators are solidified. Please contact Kristin Ingold with any questions.

myPGS School-based Designee

This year, we will continue to work with you to make school wide professional development as easy as possible to manage. PLC sections have been created for the 21-22 school year. All instructional staff that are tagged to your cost center have been imported to your school PLC roster. Instructional staff do not need to register because of the bulk import created.

Last year, we trained one designated person at your school site to take on this task. The selected person will support you and your school with requesting courses, marking attendance, and completion. This person can be someone from your support staff, such as bookkeeper, principal’s secretary, data entry or you may choose your LDC or another instructional coach.

Please review this spreadsheet to see was selected and trained. You are welcome to change or add someone different for this year. Please make your selection by Friday, September 17th.

We will reach out to all our new designees for our Thursday, September 23rd training from 8:00-9:00am via zoom.

Thank you for your help with this! We hope this is helpful resource for you. For any questions, please reach out to Charlotte Kralik.

Pasco Literacy Teacher of the Year Nomination

We are excited to recognize amazing literacy teacher leaders within our schools. We are asking each school nominate a literacy teacher leader. Upon nomination the administration will provide this nomination packet for the teacher to complete. After all nomination packets are received, Pasco County Schools would like to recognize each Literacy Teacher nominated at the school level at one of our board meetings. Once a panel completes a blind review, one of our very own amazing Pasco Literacy teacher leaders will then represent Pasco for the Florida Literacy Association Literacy Teacher of the Year recognition!

Schools must select their nominees and return the completed nomination form and supporting documentation to Cassie Hernandez on or before September 16th. Completed submissions may be submitted electronically to Cassie Hernandez.

Reading Endorsement Updates

This link will provide you with the most updated list of staff on your campus that are reading endorsed. If a teacher has passed the K-12 Reading Test or finished course work and needs to add their endorsement to their certificate, they should connect with their certification specialist for support. The schedule for courses being offered this year is available here. If you have any questions , please contact Danielle Varcardipone.

ELA and English General Paper updates

E4, E4 H, E4 CCR

Please reach out to @Cassie Hernandez if you still need TEs for the Uncharted Territory anthologies.

English General Paper

As we approach some new pieces related to our progression checks and mock exams that will be required for English General Paper students, we wanted to provide some information that might be helpful to you.

When will these occur? Please see the chart below. This information can also be found on our one-page assessment overview. This can also be found on the teacher-facing Canvas page for the teacher’s convenience.

What will scheduling look like?

Progression Checks will be done in the classroom and do not require a modified bell schedule

Mock Exams will require an adjusted schedule. The exam requires students to take Paper 1 on one day (1hr and 15 minutes) and Paper 2 (1hr and 45 minutes) on a different day.

As you consider how to set up conditions for the Mock Exams you may have students test in the gym or other designated location on two separate days to mimic testing conditions when the schedule already allows for a modified schedule structure (i.e., in December during Finals). In March, the mock exam could take place during the ERD. These scheduling suggestions would allow the least disruptive learning environment.

AP Professional Development Points

Teachers wishing to receive professional development points from attending an AP Summer Institute and/or was an AP Reader, will need to follow the below procedures to submit an external credit request. Please contact Kristin Ingold or Charlotte Kralik with questions.

External Credit Request Procedure:
  1. Before attending the training, review the course content to ensure it is relevant to your role/job.
  2. Attend the training and obtain attendance verification (i.e. certificate/letter of completion stating number of hours, evidence of attendance, agenda with times, transcript. etc.) to document number of learning hours.
  3. Implement the learning from the training in your classroom/building/role and complete an Implementation Reflection Form.  Click here to download the form.
  4. Submit an External Credit Request in myPGS. Click here for step-by-step directions for completing the request form.

Once you have obtained attendance verification, completed an Implementation Reflection form and reviewed the directions,

click here to submit your request.

The Office for Leading and Learning (OLL) will review all documentation and course information once the request is submitted in myPGS.  If the training meets FLDOE state requirements for in-service points and all requirements are met (attendance verification and Implementation Reflection form complete) OLL will approve the request and points will be awarded.

Reminder: Founders’ Month – Constitution Day – Freedom Week

Federal and state legislation requires that public school curriculum honors and celebrates September as American Founders’ Month with the inclusion of Constitution Day and Freedom Week.

  • Constitution Day, September 17, 2021 – Federal legislation requires educational institutions to recognize Constitution Day in their instructional program on September 17.
  • Celebrate Freedom Week, September 20th – 24th, 2021 – State statute directs Florida schools to educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country and the values on which this country was founded during Celebrate Freedom Week. The week must include an in-depth study of the Declaration of Independence, and an oral recitation by students (led by principal or teachers) of an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence.
  • The Freedom Week excerpt and additional information may be found in the Memo and Proclamation.
Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year the Governor and the First Lady invite students in grades K-12 to participate in art and essay contests in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month which will take place this year from September 15- October 15, 2021. More information can be found at https://floridahispanicheritage.com/.

DE Registration Updates

By the end of September, PHSC plans to revert back to the CSRS platform to perform all student services operations, including course registration.  CSRS was the system in use prior to the implementation of CNS in May of this year. Important note, this will not affect student participation in classes they are currently registered in.

Here is the timeline for the transition back:

  • CNS will be operational until 9/20/2021.
  • CNS will be down beginning 9/21/2021 and PHSC will use manual processes as needed while data is migrated.
  • CSRS will become operational on 10/1/2021.

Spring semester dual enrollment registration will take place through WISE, as it has in the past.  We will provide information for students new in the fall semester who have never registered through WISE, and as a reminder to others. Please contact Kristin Ingold with any questions.

English and Reading Novels

You should be receiving novels at your school sites. Please see this link for the designation of novels as some are for ELA/English coursework and some are for Reading coursework. Please, feel free to share this with your department and whoever assists with handling materials upon arrival.

New Teacher On-Boarding/Compassionate Classroom Make-up: Saturday, September 18th
Please share with new teachers that did not attend the kickoff on Monday, July 26th. Use this spreadsheet to see who attended from your school.

This is a highly suggested course for all new hires to Pasco whether they are coming in with experience or not. For the On-boarding session, we will review information about the Pasco Way of Work as well as our systems, platforms, evaluation systems, and orient all new hires to Pasco County Schools. In the afternoon, we will begin our journey with building a compassionate classroom.  We will engage in an activity to understand the six pillars of a developmental relationship and the importance of building trusting relationships with their students. We will emphasize that setting clear expectations, rules, and procedures is essential to maximize learning. All new teachers will begin to build out their classroom success plan for the year including these elements and much more.

All teachers that attend will receive a stipend pay for joining us on Saturday from 8:30am-3:30pm. This session will be via zoom. Information and zoom link will be sent to participants prior to this training.
