School-Based Adoption Votes for Secondary Math Instructional Materials

This is the last week to submit your school’s vote!

In January, Assistant Principals received  information regarding the instructional materials adoption process, the IMET tool for evaluating resources, and strategies for consensus building for school-based teams. During the February Early Release Day, secondary math teachers will engage in collaborative work and evidence collecting around the “Try-and-Apply” phase. There will also be new information shared from teacher questions around technology, assessments, etc.

We ask that schools hold their votes until after the new information is shared on February Early Release Day on February 2nd.

Assistant Principals were asked to work with PLC’s and School Leadership teams to build consensus around which material will best meet the needs of Pasco County students. Consensus should be built by Feb. 17th. Each school should submit their vote by February 18, 2022.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Melissa Caruso or Fran Howard.

Florida Youth Survey

The Florida Youth Survey sponsored by the Florida Department of Health is required of each county in the state of Florida annually. This year 16 Pasco schools were selected ( 8 Middle Schools and 8 High Schools).

  • Prior to administering the survey schools must send home the FAQ and Parental Permission Form which only needs to be completed if parents do not want their student to participate. Please allow adequate time for parents to return the form to opt out. We recommend a phone call or email going directly to these families to notify them of the opt out form and survey. Parents with questions are allowed to come to the school to review the survey if they wish. If you need support with questions, please contact Matt Wicks.
  • Permission slips and all survey materials will be distributed to the nurses at those selected schools early next week.
  • The school’s nurse will distribute the survey packets to each selected 2nd period classroom teacher.
  • Once the surveys are completed (2-week completion window), the administering teacher will place the surveys in the provided return envelope and place in the courier to send to the Health Team.

Please feel free to contact Matt Wicks or Tony Emperator, if you have any questions about the FYS survey and the administration timeline.
