HMH module assessments

As we move towards the midpoint of our first year of implementing HMH and the new B.E.S.T. standards, we are putting together a work group to assist with the important task of refining the assessments to better align with the standards.

To do this, we are asking that you please recommend a teacher or instructional coach that has knowledge of the reading series, the new standards, and the current assessments from HMH.

The task force will be engaged in the following scope of work throughout their time in the work group.

  • Review HMH module assessments for all modules grades K-5 to ensure alignment with the B.E.S.T. Standards. All standards and benchmark clarifications should be considered, not just the standard listed.
  • Recommend modifications to correct errors in the terminology used in the module assessments.
  • Review HMH Into Reading lessons within the module to identify and align test questions with lessons taught throughout the module.

Members of this work group will be paid for their time. There will be an initial meeting for all team members to set the expectations for the work. The rest of the hours will be set by the grade level partners to meet the goal with some flexibility of when they will meet to check each other’s work for submission.

Please submit your recommendations via this form by December 10th. We will hold the first meeting on Tuesday, December 16th  at 4:30 pm.

Clinical Educator Cohort 2: Recommendations Due by Friday, December 17th

We still have plenty of room! Please check out this flyer for a list of teachers that are already Clinical Educator trained. Recruit teachers that are not and would be great candidates for this leadership role.

Please remember that all host teachers and teachers that mentor PDCP teachers with certain certificates need to be both Clinical Educator trained and have their Reading Endorsement. Check out this list of Reading Endorsed teachers that are not Clinical Educator trained. Let’s make sure we have enough teachers that have both requirements to fulfill the 22-23 state statute.

Requirements for Clinical Educator:

  • Minimum of three years “highly effective or effective” teaching experience
  • Demonstrated emphasis on personal professional development and advancement of the education profession
  • Demonstrated effective skills related to:
    • designing, delivering, and assessing high-impact learning activities for ALL students
    • building a compassionate classroom
    • communication, collaboration, and organization
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills, qualities, and experiences

Once the form is complete, please email to Charlotte Kralik. All recommended teachers will be registered in myPGS.

January Early Release Updated Times

Included in this spreadsheet are the new start times for your school’s early release PD beginning in January. These times reflect all new bell times and we are hopeful that they will work for your schools. We share that there will be some schools who will have the school-based PD and work time BEFORE the ERD session instead of at the end in order to maintain the wave and grouping structures, so please be sure to look closely at the impact for your site. Should you have any additional questions, please reach out to Lea Mitchell

PMP Monthly Progress Letters

PMP Monthly Progress Letters will be posted in the Letter Queue area in myStudent the morning of January 5th for review and will then be reposted on January 10th. This will allow for you to send them at the same time as Quarter 2 Report Cards on January 11th.

You can find the directions for printing the letters on pages 4-5 of the   Academic Monitoring in myStudent.docx.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

The Office of Leading and Learning will be the point of contact for questions, as more information is released from the state we will communicate in our administrator and teacher newsletters. Optional DIBELS Data System Intervention Group Monitoring – NEW FEATURE

We now have the capability to create flexible intervention groups in the DIBELS data system for progress monitoring!

This will allow you to:

  • Create groups for progress monitoring in the DIBELS Data System
  • Add/Remove students from groups for progress monitoring as needed
  • Review the progress monitoring data for the group only

If you would like this OPTIONAL feature for your school, please identify one person at your school that will serve as a DIBELS Data System Point of Contact. This person will be given a “how to” resource and additional permissions within the DIBELS data system that will allow them to create intervention group classes.

The person nominated must have school-level access to DIBELS (e.g., admin, coaches, etc). Most classroom teachers have class-level access and should not be nominated.

Please use the form below to nominate your school’s DIBELS Data System Point of Contact:
