Elementary Math Update- Next Steps for 22-23 School Year
We have surveyed elementary instructional staff and school leaders regarding their perceptions, hopes and desires for elementary mathematics during the 22-23 school year as we prepare our journey into the BEST Math standards. The vast majority of people who have weighed in (nearly 600 instructional staff and school leaders) desire to spend time next year engaging in learning and implementing the new BEST Math standards while continuing to utilize our current resources (Eureka Math) AND the FLDOE implementation guides. With this feedback the decision has been made not to engage in a formal materials adoption process for mathematics grades K-5.
Action requested- Recycling Update
We have secured a date to aid in the removal of out-of-date, out-of-adoption, obsolete and other materials not used or further supported in your schools. Pick-up will occur the week of November 8.
Timeline:
· October 21st- Last day to request gaylords through Machform
· November 5th- Schools must be ready for pick up
· November 8-12 Pick up
Please work with your plant manager to complete the “Recycling Request” and to determine the process for removal that best meets the current needs of your school by Thursday, 10-21-21.
Please contact Mayra Perez-Speare, mperezsp@pasco.k12.fl.us with questions.
PMP Reporting Monthly Progress
Each month, we will report progress to parents to let them know how their child is responding to Tier 3 interventions. As teachers are finalizing Quarter 1 grades on Monday, October 18th, they will also want to make an indication as to whether each student is making (adequate, limited, yes, or no) progress in the SSS, if they haven’t already done so. This will be populated on the monthly progress letters that will go home on October 26th with report cards.
Here is a chart which indicates when the progress letters will be generated in the letter queue in myStudent and when they should be sent home (electronically or hard copy). You can find the directions for accessing an error report prior to printing or sending the letters electronically and how to print the letters on pages 4-5 of Academic Monitoring in myStudent.docx. The administrator and office staff with DEO or School Update profiles will have access, one week prior to distribution of report cards and progress reports, to the Letter Queue area of myStudent located in the Student Menu. This is the same process as ESD and ESY.
Date letters will be generated in letter queue | Date schools send home progress letters |
No letters generated | 9/10 Progress Reports (no progress letter) |
10/19 | 10/26 Q1 Report Cards + progress letter |
11/5 | 11/12 Progress Reports + progress letter |
PMP Progress Monitoring
As part of the development of the intervention plan, you selected a progress monitoring tool, so you can monitor student response to intervention. You will see the option of inputting data into a graph right in myStudent SSS. If you are monitoring through Lexia or DIBELS, you would not be required to enter data in SSS, since this data would be collected through myLexia or the DIBELS Data System (elementary). You would only enter data, if the data is not being collected in another way (myEWS student data sheet, myLexia, DIBELS Data System, or etc.).
Please contact Courtney Lough, Jan Anderton, or Larry Porter if you have any questions.
Third Grade Quarter 1 Parent Letter
As part of our continued support for families, we would like to share an infographic with Resources and Tips for Parents of Third Graders which should go home with each third grader at the end of Quarter 1. Here you will find the English and Spanish version for you to download and print or share electronically. 21-22 Promotion to 4th Grade Guidance will be finalized and shared soon. Please note, if a parent requests a portfolio, you can let them know we are starting a portfolio on every 3rd grader through the use of HMH Module Assessments, DIBELS ORF, NWEA MAP (alternative assessment), and the DOE Passages, as needed in the spring. Please contact Courtney Lough if you have any questions.
