Third Grade Mid-Year Promotion

Since the NWEA MAP window is closed, please review the data for all students that were retained in 3rdgrade. If a retained 3rd grader scored at or above the 50th percentile on the fall assessment, you should use that data to promote the student through exemption #3, Alternative Assessment. It will be important to print and attach the MAP Student Profile report to the Mid-Year Promotion form and submit it as soon as possible. Once it is reviewed and approved, you will need to notify the parents and make the update to enrollment and schedule change in myStudent. We will want to make these changes now and do not need to wait until the end of the quarter.

If you have students that are retained and do not meet the criteria for mid-year promotion, please make sure they are receiving Tier 3 Reading Interventions and have access to 4th grade math, if they scored a Level 2 or higher on the Math FSA.

Please contact Courtney Lough if you have any questions regarding mid-year promotion decisions.

Pasco Pathways Expo

The 2021 Pasco Pathways Expo events will be on November 15th from 5-8 p.m. (West Side) and on November 18th from 5-8 p.m. (East Side). Direct emails were sent to elementary schools with specialized programming or with magnet status to complete the mach form below. All other elementary schools are welcome to attend to highlight your school to families. Below is helpful information to assist in determining your school’s interest.

These expo events are meant to highlight your program options and/or highlight what is unique about your school ahead of the Pasco Pathways application window, which is January 6th – January 20th. The Pathways events continue to be the way the county is streamlining the number of places families need to go to gather information on innovative options for their students. The expos will be hosted virtually again this year using the Sched platform. Based on feedback from the event last year, each school will create pre-recorded videos for their sessions that will be uploaded into Sched for families to view. Along with the pre-recorded video, each session will have time for live Q&A with the school designees via Zoom.

We would like to gather information, via the Mach Form below, on how many sessions you would like to offer. Additionally, we will be following up with guidance for the pre-recorded videos as well as FAQs for families interested in attending.

21-22 Mach Form – Complete by September 29th

This year, we will continue to work with you to make school wide professional development as easy as possible to manage. PLC sections have been created for the 21-22 school year. All instructional staff that are tagged to your cost center have been imported to your school PLC roster. Instructional staff do not need to register because of the bulk import created.

Last year, we trained one designated person at your school site to take on this task. The selected person will support you and your school with requesting courses, marking attendance, and completion. This person can be someone from your support staff, such as bookkeeper, principal’s secretary, data entry or you may choose your LDC or another instructional coach.

Please review this spreadsheet to see was selected and trained. You are welcome to change or add someone different for this year. Please make your selection by Friday, September 17th.

We will reach out to all our new designees for our Thursday, September 23rd training from 8:00-9:00am via zoom.

Thank you for your help with this! We hope this is helpful resource for you. For any questions, please reach out to Charlotte Kralik.

Reminder: Founders’ Month – Constitution Day – Freedom Week

Federal and state legislation requires that public school curriculum honors and celebrates September as American Founders’ Month with the inclusion of Constitution Day and Freedom Week.

  • Celebrate Freedom Week, September 20th – 24th, 2021 – State statute directs Florida schools to educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country and the values on which this country was founded during Celebrate Freedom Week. New Teacher On-Boarding/Compassionate Classroom Make-up: Saturday, September 18th
Please share with new teachers that did not attend the kickoff on Monday, July 26th. Use this spreadsheet to see who attended from your school.

This is a highly suggested course for all new hires to Pasco whether they are coming in with experience or not. For the On-boarding session, we will review information about the Pasco Way of Work as well as our systems, platforms, evaluation systems, and orient all new hires to Pasco County Schools. In the afternoon, we will begin our journey with building a compassionate classroom.  We will engage in an activity to understand the six pillars of a developmental relationship and the importance of building trusting relationships with their students. We will emphasize that setting clear expectations, rules, and procedures is essential to maximize learning. All new teachers will begin to build out their classroom success plan for the year including these elements and much more.

All teachers that attend will receive a stipend pay for joining us on Saturday from 8:30am-3:30pm. This session will be via zoom. Information and zoom link will be sent to participants prior to this training.
