OLL Elementary School Communication

PMP Updates and Tier 3 Intervention Course Scheduling

As you and your school teams are analyzing BOY assessment data, reviewing current PMP status and making any updates to individual students in need of Tier 3 interventions in ELA (reading and writing) and Math, please ensure PMP status is updated in myStudent on the PMP/Interventions tab by September 21. Click here to access the Elementary School step by step user guide that will walk your teachers through the process of giving a student a PMP and developing a progress monitoring plan. Thank you Dan Wolfe for developing this and sharing it with OLL.

During this time, it will also be important to work with your DEO to schedule PMP ELA students in the Tier 3 Reading Courses:

Functional Reading Skills K-2 (#5010022Z)
Functional Reading Skills 3-5 (#5010026Z)

Doreen Reed sent a communication to DEOs on August 5th as a heads up that this was coming and included resources to support creating these sections:  Tier 3 Reading Intervention Elementary and scheduling students.

To support this process, it will be important to provide your DEO a list of students in need of Tier 3 Reading interventions (ELA PMP), with the teacher instructing the reading intervention.  The teacher of record must be reading endorsed or reading certified.

Optional Parent Letter

We have received several requests from schools to provide a letter that could be sent home with individual students, as needed, to communicate changes in our district’s MTSS/PMP process.  This letter explains the role of MTSS and Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels of support and clarifies that PMPs are to monitor Tier 3 moving forward.  This letter is not intended to be sent home to all families, but those that may need more detailed information, especially for those that have been historically designated as needing a PMP. Here is a link to the Universal MTSS_PMP Letter.  Here is the Spanish version  Universal MTSS_PMP Letter Spanish

myPGS School-based Designee

This year, we will continue to work with you to make school wide professional development as easy as possible to manage. PLC sections have been created for the 21-22 school year. All instructional staff that are tagged to your cost center have been imported to your school PLC roster. Instructional staff do not need to register because of the bulk import created.

Last year, we trained one designated person at your school site to take on this task. The selected person will support you and your school with requesting courses, marking attendance, and completion. This person can be someone from your support staff, such as bookkeeper, principal’s secretary, data entry or you may choose your LDC or another instructional coach.

Please review this spreadsheet to see was selected and trained. You are welcome to change or add someone different for this year. Please make your selection by Friday, September 17th.

We will reach out to all our new designees for our Thursday, September 23rd training from 8:00-9:00am via zoom.

Thank you for your help with this! We hope this is helpful resource for you. For any questions, please reach out to Charlotte Kralik.

Pasco Literacy Teacher of the Year Nomination

We are excited to recognize amazing literacy teacher leaders within our schools. We are asking each school nominate a literacy teacher leader. Upon nomination the administration will provide this nomination packet for the teacher to complete. After all nomination packets are received, Pasco County Schools would like to recognize each Literacy Teacher nominated at the school level at one of our board meetings. Once a panel completes a blind review, one of our very own amazing Pasco Literacy teacher leaders will then represent Pasco for the Florida Literacy Association Literacy Teacher of the Year recognition!

Schools must select their nominees and return the completed nomination form and supporting documentation to Cassie Hernandez on or before September 16th. Completed submissions may be submitted electronically to Cassie Hernandez.

Reading Endorsement Updates

This link will provide you with the most updated list of staff on your campus that are reading endorsed. If a teacher has passed the K-12 Reading Test or finished course work and needs to add their endorsement to their certificate, they should connect with their certification specialist for support. The schedule for courses being offered this year is available here. If you have any questions , please contact Danielle Varcardipone.

New Teacher On-Boarding/Compassionate Classroom Make-up: Saturday, September 18th
Please share with new teachers that did not attend the kickoff on Monday, July 26th. Use this spreadsheet to see who attended from your school.

This is a highly suggested course for all new hires to Pasco whether they are coming in with experience or not. For the On-boarding session, we will review information about the Pasco Way of Work as well as our systems, platforms, evaluation systems, and orient all new hires to Pasco County Schools. In the afternoon, we will begin our journey with building a compassionate classroom.  We will engage in an activity to understand the six pillars of a developmental relationship and the importance of building trusting relationships with their students. We will emphasize that setting clear expectations, rules, and procedures is essential to maximize learning. All new teachers will begin to build out their classroom success plan for the year including these elements and much more.

All teachers that attend will receive a stipend pay for joining us on Saturday from 8:30am-3:30pm. This session will be via zoom. Information and zoom link will be sent to participants prior to this training.

Admin Moves:  3 Quick Tips to a Great Start with Your Instructional Coaches

  1. Set up an initial meeting to discuss your goals, common vision of coaching, and to set a regular meeting schedule.
  2. Review Coaching Expectations.  The most impactful instructional coaching is focused on face-time with teachers and teacher teams.  Prioritize instructional coaching around content and student outcomes.  Align coaching efforts to your school goals.
  3. Clearly define coaching at your school.  Consider a communication plan for stakeholders to communicate your coaching definition, the way your coaches spend time, and what teachers and teams can expect from coaches.

Trailblazers Cohorts

We are hosting an eight-week professional learning series.  We kick off with a launch experience on September 7th for coaches and September 13th the coach and teacher team-up begins!  Over the series, teachers and coaches will attend 2-hour sessions of new learning, hosted at 2-week intervals to allow time for teachers to apply the new strategies and participate in cycles of coaching with their site-based coach.  We ran this series last year and brought it back due to popular demand.

If you have coaches and teachers interested in professional growth and practice, please share our flyer with all of the sign-up information.  Our space is limited so we are offering a Fall and Spring cohort.

Bring the Stanley Cup to Your School

Excited to share a great opportunity from the Tampa Bay Lightning and EVERFI for one Pasco school to be selected to win a visit from the Stanley Cup on September 17. Please share the attached flyer with your teachers.  Every teacher that sets up their Tampa Bay Lightning: Future Goals class(es) in EVERFI will be automatically entered to win.

Teachers must have their Future Goals Hockey Scholar classes created by 10 am on Friday, September 10th (the process only takes 7 minutes.) We know this is a short turnaround window, but as you may know, each player only gets one day with the Cup, and this day has been predetermined for Tampa Bay schools!

The winning school will be announced by 2 pm on Friday, September 10th.

GO BOLTS!
