Necessary ESY information needed from school Admin
Our ESY lead teacher training took place on Tuesday. We have some amazing teacher leaders stepping up to make this program a success. Each lead teacher should have reached out to their host site admin earlier in the week to set up a time to discuss procedures at the host site for ESY. The following slide was shared with them as a starting point for your discussion.
During planning day on June 3rd, it is expected that each host site will schedule a time for all schools to come together to level set around those procedures and expectations.
The other expectation for all schools during ESY is to set up a binder with information from all schools onsite during this time. Please come prepared on June 3rd with the items needed for the ESY information binder described in the slide below. This will allow the lead teacher to better manage all the staff and students on the campus without having to run to the computer and look it up in mystudent. All lead teachers were told of this expectation and will be putting the binder together using the information you bring to them on June 3rd.
UPDATE: DIBELS Assessment Booklets Disposal
There has been an update to the procedures for requesting OTIS to pick up and destroy used DIBELS Assessment Booklets. To request disposal, please complete the Request to Dispose of Scheduled Records form by inputting your school name, administrator’s name, contact person’s name and number, request date, and total number of boxes marked “destruction of confidential records”. The other items on the form will already be prefilled and will not need to be adjusted. Send the completed form to Records Management for processing.
If you have any questions, please contact Roshonda Renee Royster or Courtney Paige Lough.
ESY/Third Grade Summer Reading Camp
We had a successful day of learning on Tuesday with all 3rd grade teachers, lead teachers, and reading interventionists. If you would like access to the Marine Life Research Quest Canvas Course, please self-enroll-https://pasco.instructure.com/enroll/C883BP. Please make sure all teachers have the necessary resources for success (including chart paper, folders, journals, sticky notes, marker, headphones, etc.). ESY Resources 2022.pptx ESY teachers will have $35 to spend on supplies and each host site will receive $100..
All students will take the NWEA MAP at the end of the program, as a way to monitor growth between spring and summer and as a means for Good Cause Exemption for 3rd grade. The window will be open July 11-14th. We will not be administering the SAT 10 this summer, per ARM. Please contact Joy Salerno if you have any questions about summer testing.

Pasco Pathways Innovative Programs and School Choice
Promotion to 4th Grade Guidance
Please continue to contact the parents of each student scoring a Level 1 to extend an invitation for their child to attend ESY/SRC and let them know the promotion or retention status. Even if a student meets a good cause exemption, we need to offer ESY/SRC as an option.
Please complete the Documentation of Promotion to Fourth Grade 2022.pdf for any 3rd grade student that scored a Level 1 or did not take the FSA (new to Pasco or on Access) and has met one of the six good cause exemptions. Appendix B is ONLY needed if the exemption selected is #4 Portfolio. Please select ONLY one good cause exemption. If a student was previously retained in 3rd grade, you would select #6/7. You will want to print the student data sheet as the evidence to put in the cum with the signed documents.
Any student that has not met a good cause exemption, as of yet, will be marked as retained in myStudent which will be reflected on the Q4 Report Card. If they attend ESY/SRC and meet an exemption at the end of the summer, you will notify the parents, update promotional status to promoted with instructional support, submit Promotion to 4th Grade documentation and indicate the exemption # in myStudent.
Please contact Courtney Lough if you would like to discuss any of your students’ data or have any questions.
Extreme Summer Challenge
As you know, we are encouraging all students K-5 to engage in summer learning through the use of Lexia and Zearn to prevent summer learning loss. Attached you will find a flyer that will be made into posters and sent to each host site to display during the summer, as well as copies to send home with all students in PLACE and ESY. Parents will receive an email through Communications and the information will be on school and district websites. We will also share the flyer with local Pasco Public Libraries.
In order to track data, a custom class was created in myLexia for each school titled- Summer Slide 2022 and has all students, K-5 enrolled. We will be able to set custom a date range Jue 1-July 31 to pull usage and growth data.
