ESE-ESY Teachers Needed

Our summer program needs ESE-certified staff to provide services to students who do not attend full-time ESY programs but do receive a few hours of support each week. These students typically come to ESY for an hour or two at a time and would need services aligned to their IEPs. If you know of an SLP or ESE certified teacher that is interested in receiving more information, please complete have them complete this form.  The host sites listed in the ESY guidelines will be hosting these students.

Together We Lead/FASA Discover conference

We are just a few weeks away from our Together We Lead/FASA Discover conference.  The Pasco and FASA teams have an awesome learning conference planned for you.  As mentioned before, the conference begins at 2:20 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 and closes midday on Thursday, June 9, 2022.  If you haven’t already done so, please work with your bookkeeper and/or secretary to fill out necessary out-of-county paperwork.  As a reminder, OLL is covering the cost of participant registration but schools will need to pay for all additional travel expenses.

Soon you will receive communication from FASA about the conference and the Event Owl platform and will contain your log in credentials.  The conference schedule and session resources will be housed on Event Owl which will allow you to have mobile (computer or other device) access to all things Together We Lead/FASA Discover.  Many of you are familiar with the Event Owl platform, as it is the same one we used during last summer’s Together We Lead and Together We Learn events.

As you think about planning out your 2 days, you will have two options on how you map out your learning.

Option #1

Attached  you will find a copy of FASA’s Agenda and Pasco’s Detailed Agenda.  This will provide you an opportunity to plan out your schedule outside of the event platform.  If you choose this option, you will need to log on to the Event Owl platform (https://fasa.eventowl.net/) to access session recordings and session materials and resources.

Option #2

Access the session schedule and session descriptions on the Event Owl platform.  Click the “add to favorites” while on the Event Owl site (https://fasa.eventowl.net/) to select your sessions. You can continue to view your schedule on this site or you can download the FASA app.  This app is directly connected to the Event Owl site. The username and password for the FASA app is the same username/password you used to access the Event Owl platform.  You received an email from support@eventowl.net with your username and password.

On the day of the event, log on to the Event Owl platform (https://fasa.eventowl.net/) on the day/time of the sessions you select, search the session title in the search box, open the selected session and to access important session information, materials and resources.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Together We Lead/Discover 2022!  As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Vaughnette Chandler.

Promotion to 4th Grade Guidance

Now that we have received 3rd grade FSA ELA results, it will be important to contact the parents of each student scoring a Level 1 to extend an invitation for their child to attend ESY/SRC and let them know the promotion or retention status.  Even if a student meets a good cause exemption, we need to offer ESY/SRC as an option.

Please complete the  Documentation of Promotion to Fourth Grade 2022.pdf for any student that scored a Level 1 or did not take the FSA (new to Pasco or on Access) and has met one of the six good cause exemptions.

Any student that has not met a good cause exemption, as of yet, will need to be marked as retained in myStudent and on the Q4 Report Card. If they attend ESY/SRC and meet an exemption at the end of the summer, you will notify the parents, update promotional status to promoted with instructional support, submit Promotion to 4th Grade documentation and indicate the exemption # in myStudent.

Please contact Courtney Lough if you would like to discuss any of your students’ data or have any questions.

"Save the Date" for Together We Learn

Many of you will be participating in summer learning events. We want you to “Save the Date” for Together We Learn on Monday, July 25th-Wednesday, July 27th. All sessions will be virtual!

These sessions are for teachers, coaches, administrators as well as support staff. Be sure to save the date on your calendar and look for registration information during the week of July 11th! View this flyer for details of this event. We hope to see all of you!

K Camp

K Camp is going to be a blast! Click here to access the resources from last week’s principal meeting. The K camp folder can be shared with your K camp teachers or whoever is coordinating this program. To share just send this K camp folder link:  K Camp

District Extreme Summer Challenge (Lexia and Zearn)

We will be promoting a District Summer Challenge for all elementary students to participate in from June 1st to July 31st.  Students will have the opportunity to win prizes at the individual and school levels.  We will be communicating this program in two ways this summer. Posters and flyers will be sent to ESY host sites and Place programs to encourage the students on campus to participate in the challenge. We are asking that each school also advertise the summer challenge on their websites and in any electronic end-of-year communications to families. Susan Thomas will be reaching out to webmasters for the website information.

See below for the required actions for all K-5 teachers. This is crucial for a successful summer learning challenge. This information will be in the teacher newsletters released later this week.

For students to be successful, we need your help.  Please make sure ALL students, K-5, know how to log in and access Lexia and Zearn

Lexia: Remember, the first time a student logs in to Lexia, they will take a placement test.   If you have a student that has been inactive in Lexia for several months or has not grown a level all year, you may want to consider resetting their placement test before they leave for the summer, so the data is the most accurate.  (Please know, that all historical data will be lost if you reset a student’s placement test, so you will want to print the skills report first.)

Zearn: Teachers must assign the first mission/module in the summer program before students leave for summer break. Click here to determine missions/modules by grade level in the summer program. Click here for setting student assignments.  Please note: if a student is a 3rd grader/upcoming 4th grader, he/she would be assigned 3rd grade missions/modules during the summer program to ensure a solid foundation for 4th grade.  Once teachers assign the first mission in the summer series, the program will automatically go to the next mission.

Please reach out to Kim Hedgspeth with any questions about the marketing materials, Courtney Lough for Lexia questions, and Jan Anderton for Zearn questions.

3rd Grade ESY Book sets

Each school will receive an envelope that has the books your ESY teachers will need during summer reading camp. You should  have a set of 6 books for each of your 3rd-grade summer reading camp teachers. If you need another set, please reach out to Kim Hedgspeth.

Zearn Summer Math Series

We have current Pasco County data that proves students doing 3 Zearn lessons per week have a significant increase in their NWEA and FSA data. Wouldn’t it be great if we could continue that for the summer? Well, it is here!

Zearn presents their summer 2022 Intensive Math Series which offers a coherent, focused 4–6-week sequence that will build strong foundations for all rising 1st through 9th graders to help them succeed in their 22-23 academic year.

Please note that these lessons would have to be assigned to your students before leaving for the summer and I also encourage you to notify parents about this incredible summer opportunity. Click here to find out more.

Feel free to contact Tracy Miller or Jan Anderton, should you have any questions.

Coaching Smore, Summer Coaching Academy and Coaching Pool Updates

We are sharing a link to our Coaching SMORE.  This is one of the key structures we use to communicate with our stakeholders.  In the SMORE, folks can find links to our  Instructional Coaching Dates 2021-2022.docx, meeting information and links for upcoming events, highlights on best practices around equity, data usage & display, and other key coaching skills.  We also offer nice-to-know information around professional development opportunities and state updates.

The Summer Coaching Academy is designed for both coaches and administrators to work together around coaching in your building.

Updates to our Instructional Coaching Pool

As you may know, we have completed the latest round of interviews for the  Instructional Coaching Pool.  We have added a record number of new candidates.  If you have an open coaching position, we have likely been in touch.  Not only will we advertise your open coaching positions to this pool, but we would like to provide you access to preview or review the status of any applicant.

If you would like to chat about the pool, process information around a specific applicant or talk through any logistics, please email Jeremy Blair jdblair@pasco.k12.fl.us.
