Your voices our so important in this process and we would love for Pasco to have a significant amount of input provided. Please visit: http://fldoe.org/standardsreview for feedback forms and additional information related to the review process.  Teachers will receive this same info in their May newsletter, but please encourage all of your staff to weigh in!

During the CNA visits, priority schools will receive a very brief overview of the processes for submitting requests for priority professional development support for the 3 days of PD chosen by the school during July 8-18th.  In addition, each school will be provided a Professional Development Menu of support with companion Description document.  These documents share specific offerings that OLL and SSPS can provide with descriptions of these offerings to give schools insight on opportunities based on upcoming school goals and needs.  These documents can also be found here.  Professional Development

The timeline for submitting needs is included on the PD menu and below:

*Notes:  Feel free to submit needs when ready and confirmations will be shared accordingly

ESY Professional Development-Save the Date – Share with teachers

The Office for Leading and Learning will be offering professional development for teachers and reading interventionists who will be teaching 3rd Grade Summer Reading Camp or Title I Extended School Year (ESY K-2) for ELA. Please have your ESY/SRC teachers mark their calendar for Tuesday, June 4thfrom 8:30-3:30. Please note: Stipends will be paid and additional details will be shared soon.

Summer Reading Interventions-SIPPS Placement Test – Share with teachers

If you plan to utilize SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words)for intensive interventions this summer, then you will want to administer the placement test prior to the end of the school year. You will want to screen all Level 1 3rd graders to rule out foundational skills for their summer intervention(Only screen students attending ESY/SRC.)  This will allow your teachers and reading interventionist to form groups and prepare during the ESY/SRC planning day in order to maximize instructional time. For any student, K-2, you will use the K-3 SIPPS Placement Test.  For Level 1 3rd graders, you will want to use the 4-12 SIPPS Placement Test.  The directions and decision rules are located on the placement test.

Summer Science Symposium Offered by DOE – Share with teachers

Last year the Florida Department of Education provided a Summer Science Symposium focusing on standards-based lessons and aligned activities. Teachers across the state were invited to participate in one of three regions. Last year’s attendees returned to their districts with a wealth of inspiring lessons focused on key standards for the courses and the subsequent annual assessment. Members of our Science Team serve as both Content Developers and Facilitators on this State project.

Preparations are underway for another Summer Science experience for elementary, middle, and high science teachers in the form of a STEMposium. This year, in addition to engaging, standards-aligned lessons and activities, there will be breakout sessions focused on STEM education and careers.

This summer, the training will take place at Middleton High School

4801 N. 22nd Street, Tampa, FL from July 15th-19th.

Each district is allocated a set number of spots for participants. If you have a teacher who may be interested in participating in this awesome experience, please forward this link for them to complete this application of interest by April 22nd.
